„Lyca Lost“ is the new music project of Elisabeth Toriser.

Elisabeth grew up under the influence of classical, medieval and church music, though metal was added to these very early on. She gathered stage experience  as vocalist of a Blues and later on a Gothic metal band among others. She gained her greatest notoriety as lead singer of the Austrian Neoclassic/Darkwave formation “Dargaard“. In recent years she played rather small acoustic concerts, above all with medieval, Irish and self composed music.

„Lyca Lost“ ist das neue musikalische Projekt von Elisabeth Toriser.

Elisabeth wuchs unter Einfluss von klassischer, Mittelalter- und Kirchenmusik auf, jedoch kam auch schon sehr früh Metal dazu. Bühnenerfahrungen sammelte sie unter anderem als Sängerin einer Blues-, später einer Gothic-Metal-Band. Ihre größte Bekanntheit errang sie als Sängerin der österreichischen Neoklassik/Darkwave Formation „Dargaard“. In den letzten Jahren spielte sie kleinere akustische Konzerte, vor allem mit Mittelalter-, irischer und eigener Musik.

At the age of 20 she already discovered her enthusiasm for the English poet, painter, nature mystic and freethinker William Blake.

“The special thing for me about Blake is that he leaves a lot of room for interpretations - the texts often have a deeper, encrypted, sometimes hidden meaning, similar to fairy tales or dreams and everybody unterstands them a little bit differently. “, explains Elisabeth her connection to William Blake.

Bereits mit 20 entdeckte sie ihre Begeisterung für den englischen Dichter, Maler, Naturmystiker und Freidenker William Blake.
„Das Besondere an Blake ist für mich, dass er viel Raum für Interpretationen lässt – die Texte haben oft eine tiefere, verschlüsselte, manchmal verborgene Bedeutung, ähnlich wie bei Märchen oder Träumen und jeder versteht diese ein wenig anders.“, erklärt Elisabeth ihre Verbindung zu William Blake.

The project “Lyca Lost“ combines Irish and classicly influenced sounds, but also in part influences from a darkwave direction. The CD “From the desert to the green hills“ is an hommage to William Blake. The compositions of Elisabeth Toriser add a soundtrack to some of his poems, especially from “Songs of Innocence“ and “Songs of Experience“.

Das Projekt Lyca Lost verbindet irische mit klassisch beeinflussten Klängen, aber auch zum Teil mit Strömungen aus der Darkwave Richtung. Die CD „From the desert to the green hills“ ist eine Hommage an William Blake. Die Kompositionen von Elisabeth Toriser vertonten einige seiner Gedichte, vor allem aus den Gedichtzyklen „Songs of Innocence“ und „Songs of Experience“.

“The listener will be taken on an inner journey, with nearly altogether acoustic instruments, vocals and self recorded nature sounds, that emphasize the narrative, pictorial character of the music.“

The music originates from the singer, was arranged by her and partially played, as well as being completed through numerous musicians. 

„Der Hörer wird entführt auf eine innere Reise, mit fast durchwegs akustischen Instrumenten, Gesang und selbst aufgenommenen Naturgeräuschen, die den erzählerischen, bildhaften Charakter der Musik verstärken.“

Die Musik stammt von der Sängerin, wurde von ihr arrangiert und zum Teil eingespielt, sowie durch zahlreiche Musiker vervollständigt.
